I'm a native Californian living in the United Kingdom, researching past climates to help understand future climate change.
Currently, I'm a NERC Independent Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge in the Department of Earth Sciences. My colleagues David Hodell, Alex Piotrowski, and I are researching warm Pliocene (~3-4 million years ago) ocean circulation.
As a paleoceanographer, I use the geochemistry of microfossils from marine sediment to reconstruct past ocean conditions. The oceans play a central role in the climate system, and marine sediment from the ocean provides a rich archive of past climate.
